Advisory Committees

All Vocational Training curricula and vocational skills records are reviewed annually by an Advisory Committee that includes specific business or industry representatives. This process ensures that training curricula is current and relevant to occupation-specific employment standards and expectations.

Advisory Committees Functions:

  • Plan, implement and evaluate instructional programs
  • Identify and recommend prerequisite skills for program applicants
  • Review and make recommendations regarding the curriculum, including program content, length, objectives, and industry-based equipment and technology
  • Review and make recommendations regarding the program design, including:
    • Use of up-to-date employment-related technology
    • Evaluation methods of assessment of employment outcomes
    • Required skill levels and/or proficiency required for completion of program
  • Offer career guidance
  • Identify or provide potential student internship and job placement opportunities of training area students and graduates
  • Facilitate opportunities to market programs and their graduates to prospective business/industry employers
