The Medical Recreation Therapist provides treatment opportunities which offer the client a chance to expand leisure interests with a focus on rehabilitation goals through adaptive techniques and practice. Through this approach, the professional takes in consideration all facets of the person being physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual.
The Recreation Services Department focuses on the benefits of leisure. The staff and client work on the soft skills such as team work, skill development, social skills, confidence, self- esteem, accepting feedback, following instructions, being on time, and communication skills. Programs are planned and implemented to meet the needs of the clients from the results of the Leisure Diagnostic Battery test and re-evaluated at the end of their program.
