WWRC’s Business Training Program currently offers two (2) Career Pathways (Customer Service Representative & General Office Assistant).

A student may complete one (1) Career Pathway (Customer Service Representative) or two (2) Career Pathways (Customer Service Representative & General Office Assistant), if demonstrating proper competency per the Vocational Skills Records (VSR’s) on each Career Pathway.

Each Training Program curriculum and expected knowledge, skills, and abilities are developed in partnership with a designated Occupational Advisory Committee.

Business Training Program

Training Program Description: WWRC's Business Training Program is an approved program by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE).

By completing core assessment tasks prior to enrolling in any Career Pathway within the Business Training Program, all newly enrolled students gain an introductory knowledge of computer concepts, information technology (IT) software, basic math skills, customer service skills, data entry skills, and English written and verbal comprehension skills.

Students enrolled in the Business Training Program are given the opportunity to obtain a basic Customer Service workplace certification and the Virginia Career Readiness Certificate.

At the completion of the training program, graduates are competent in the following:

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • QuickBooks
  • Keyboarding
  • Gregg Quick Filing System
  • Retail Sales Software
  • Business Math
  • Business Machines Operations
  • Business Communications

Customer Service Representative

Program Length 375 clock hours (60 training days/3 months) (1 Semester)
Prerequisites:
  • Meet WWRC admission criteria
  • Completion or demonstrated mastery of Business core assessment skills is required for full enrollment in the training program
Completion Requirements: A student must demonstrate mastery of a minimum 80% of core competencies, as documented on the Vocational Skills Record to be eligible for graduation.
Employment Settings: Graduates of the Business Training Program acquire the skills and knowledge for employment in entry-level positions in business, industry, and government agencies. Job Titles may include: Administrative Assistant, Administrative Support Specialist, Business Office Clerk, Administrative Secretary, Accounting Assistant, or Office Coordinator.

General Office Assistant
